Weaving a web is akin to embroidering a cosmos
From Monday, 26 May 2025 to Friday, 30 May 2025

May 2025
Faberllull Olot proposes spinning a network of relationships around the practice of weaving and the textile materialities that allows them to be understood as situated and entangled forms of world creation. For a week, its residents will reflect on the role of orality and gesture in the processes of knowledge transfer. By approaching the act of weaving as an exercise that is part of a deviated temporality in which time expands and teleology softens, they will seek ways to pace and find themselves in this non-space, where they can be guided by the same rhythm: the rhythm of the stitch.
In this residency, the focus will be on the importance of reclaiming the genealogy invoked when we come into contact with the universe of textiles: a feminine or queer and ancestral one that has often not had access to representation. Thus, we will be invited to think about the practice of sewing or weaving as a task that involves one will be taking care of the other: with their own hands, those who take up the needle and thread make a gentle refuge from which to face the harshness of the world.
This residency is part of the Olot Tèxtil cycle. Between the months of April and August 2025, a series of activities will assert the past, present and future of textiles in the Garrotxa capital. Weaving is an industrial activity that marked the city's urban planning and economy but which is present today in other, possibly more creative and community-minded ways. Heritage and art exhibitions have been scheduled at the Museums as well as shows, concerts, itineraries, talks and many other activities.
