MARTINA MANYÀ VINTRÓ
From Monday, 26 May 2025 to Friday, 30 May 2025
Bio
Martina Manyà Vintró's work is mainly embodied in painting and also in installations, stage design, posters, illustrated books and textiles. She is interested in painting in a broad and expanded sense, and explores the material and symbolic dimension beyond the limits of the frame.
At the centre of her practice is a fascination with colour as an expressive channel, and consequently also with form and matter, all inseparable elements. Her work often digs down on the materiality of artwork, the materials we use to create it, its origin and its future. Martina is interested in the processes of transforming materials, especially artisanal and manual techniques. In this sense, she considers textiles an element of great value, which put touch and manual work at the heart, operating from an extended temporality and allowing us to connect to our personal and collective memories.
Project
Her project consists of transforming material she has discarded and left to accumulate: errors, tests, margins and surplus elements from paintings and old or discarded works. Through sewing, assembling, dyeing and weaving, the material is transformed into new forms and objects, which become woven paintings, assemblage paintings or pictorial tapestries. She thus articulates a gesture that leads us to delve into the passage of time, change, repair and transformation governed by its own, leisurely pace, putting manual work at the centre.
