Gloria Carolina Fiallo Teaches Cartography Workshop on Industry and Water
“Drawing Water” was the name of the critical cartography workshop that explored the relationship between industry and water in Olot last Friday. Teacher Gloria Carolina Fiallo proposed rethinking water beyond its traditional consideration as a resource and understanding it as an active agent capable of transforming and generating new social, environmental and spatial configurations.
Through drawing and other representation techniques, participants worked together to gain insights into how water can become a shaping force of the landscape and what new perspectives it can generate in a territory. The ways that water manifests in the landscape were analysed from a geographical, historical and territorial perspective, tracing relationships between the material presence of water and the cultural narratives that have defined it over time.
This activity, organised by the Landscape of Catalonia Observatory and the Faberllull residence, is part of the Olot Tèxtil course taking place in the Garrotxa capital over spring.
