Artists, curators and researchers
Barcelona

Bio

Amor Rumor is an art and educational research group formed by Edu Rubio (she/they) and Blanca Arias (she/they), both artists, curators and mediators. Based on the desire to cross sound with visual practices, they explore where echoes of ancestry and other phantasmagoria resonate in order to trace alternative cosmogonies of the possible imaginary places that invite us to think from the perspective of collectivity, silences, echoes or which, in general, often escape representation.

Together they curated Sala d'Art Jove (2024), participated in the exhibition "Desenfocar l'anècdota" curated by nyamnyam at the Garrotxa Museum (2024) and collaborated with Apropa Cultura in conducting the training session "Allò antic té secrets: apprenent d'Hildegard von Bingen", at the Monastery of Pedralbes (2023).

Project

Amor Rumor proposes spinning a network of relationships around the practice of weaving and the textile materialities that allows them to be understood as situated and entangled forms of world creation. For a week, the residents will reflect on the role of orality and gesture in the processes of knowledge transfer. By approaching the act of weaving as an exercise that is part of a deviated temporality in which time expands and teleology softens, they will seek ways to pace and find themselves in this non-space, where they can be guided by the same rhythm: the rhythm of the stitch.

We are deeply grateful to Faberllull Olot for giving us the opportunity to build a network of artists who engage with textiles in diverse ways, in a friendly, welcoming and inspirational environment. The residency has been a gift for all of us, a spark of hope and excitement that has reminded us we are many and varied, united by shared desires and concerns around sewing as a practice. Being able to step out of the workshop or studio and into a space surrounded by nature has not only given us a much-needed break from routine, which is essential for sustaining creativity, but it has also allowed us to learn from and share ideas about a fertile and abundant territory that was previously unfamiliar to us. In short, all of us residents agree it has been one of the most enriching and generous experiences we've ever had.
