Yael Haskal workshop with students at El Galliner de Girona

Writer and performer Yael Haskal led a workshop with students at El Galliner de Girona theatre training centre. The Faberllull resident focused her session on Neo-futurism, a method for creating an aesthetic narrative designed for writers and artists.

Haskal has studied and worked with this technique for seven years. Neo-futurism allows artists to tell their personal stories on stage. The workshop participants created short plays from their own life experiences. During the session, they learned to express non-illusory narrations, breaking the fourth wall between actors and the audience and reacting to the world around us through autobiographical stories.

Yael Haskal is a writer and performer based in Berlin and New York. She is a member of La MaMa's Great Jones Repertory Company and New York Neo-Futurists, collaborating in various disciplines. She works in poetry, videoart, dramaturgy, puppetry and performance art. Her pieces have been performed on loads of stages all over the United States.
