Mediaevalist Researchers Tour Garrotxa Regional Archive
The residents of the Modernitats Medievals (Mediaeval Modernities) residency programme visited the Garrotxa Regional Archive to learn the history of the facility and how it is organised. Among the collections held by the institution, they were particularly interested in documents from the 12th-16th centuries.
During the tour, they wanted to know what the oldest documents in the archive were, as well as the continuity that exists across the centuries. The visit brought professors and researchers from North American universities into contact with the Garrotxa researchers working at the Archive.
Faberllull has been reflecting on ways to approach the mediaeval era by generating a three-way dialogue between the past, the stories told about it and the instruments used to learn more in its regard. Over four days, there was talk of productive continuities and discontinuities between the Middle Ages and present era; the various types of neo-mediaevalism and their scope when considering contemporary society; and contemporary theoretical models that throw light onto hitherto neglected aspects of mediaeval culture.
