Irene Solà shares all the details of her latest novel with a dozen translators

There’s been a bustling day at Faberllull as Irene Solà meets with a dozen translators of her work. Early in the morning, she presented her visual atlas and discussed the sources of inspiration and research material she used for her novel Et vaig donar ulls i vas mirar les tenebres (I Gave You Eyes and You Looked towards Darkness).

Following that, there was a collaborative session where the group pondered how to translate the background of aesthetic and linguistic research that Solà incorporates into each literary project. They also paused to consider how different translation theories and concepts might impact each version of the text.

In the afternoon, each translator worked individually, taking the chance to address specific doubts with Irene Solà. During this residency at Faberllull, the novel Et vaig donar ulls i vas mirar les tenebres is being translated into Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, English, Hungarian, Dutch, Swedish and Russian.
