French artist Pauline Fondevila, resident in Palma for the Biennial of Thought, has carried out the performance The promise of the Sea this Saturday (15 October) at the Palma Bay. This activity has been possible thanks to the cooperation of Casal Solleric, the College for Art and Design (EASDIB) and the Mallorca Maritime Museum.

Fondevila has worked with a set of lateen sails, together with students from EASDIB; these sails have been hoisted onto boats from the Cala Gamba Nautical Club. The artist tailors this performance to all the places where she develops it; in Palma’s case, she has drawn inspiration from references as diverse as Antònia Font, Enrique Vila-Matas or the immobile trip concept.

This project will be a part of the exhibition Ones-Olas-Waves, curated by the Faberllull resident Jesús Alcaide, which will be hosted by Casal Solleric in 2023.
