Architects Pia Fontana and Miguel Mayorga, Faberllull residents within the Biennial of Thought, have offered the talk “Humanising the city via school environments” to project managers from several areas in the Palma City Council.

During their speech they have spoken about the transdisciplinary vision of how to intervene in the city and the need to place the person as the centre of human life. They have also highlighted the need to take into account the scope of interventions and the connections among different elements in the environment.

The residents have discussed the pedestrianisation vs walkability concept, and have posed a key question: who do we design the city for? From their own experience, walkability is a less invasive intervention, but it provides citizenship with more control and more comfort.
