Trobada d’Història de la Ciència i de la Tècnica kicks off

This Thursday, the 18th Trobada d’Història de la Ciència i de la Tècnica kicked off in Olot, running through this Saturday. Several participants in the Faberllull Earth sciences: history, science and society residency will be taking part. These include US professor Jessica Ratcliff, who gave the inaugural address on how the India Office shaped the political economy of science in Britain between 1858 and 1947, with a focus on knowledge resource management (libraries and museums).

Tomorrow and Saturday morning, geologist Isaac Camps (Terrassa) will lead a walk looking at the history of the Montsacopa volcano, which is right in the heart of the city of Olot.

The closing session on Saturday at midday will be by another Faberllull resident, History of Science professor Ezio Vaccari (Varese, Italy). He will discuss the interdisciplinary future challenges facing the history of Earth sciences.

In addition to these talks, Trobada d’Història de la Ciència i de la Tècnica will also include debate sessions at Espai Cràter, guided tours of the Bolós archives and a show at Teatre Principal in Olot.
