Talk by Salam Alaridi and Rehab Mouna Chaker at Escola d’Art d’Olot
Salam Alaridi and Rehab Mouna Chaker recently gave a lecture to students specialising in photography, audiovisuals and advertising graphics at the Olot School of Art. Both originally from Syria, they discussed their personal and professional journeys, detailing their departure from their homeland and how they have subsequently become involved in their new countries of residence.
The discussion centred on issues related to feminism, the impact of various cultural influences and how these have moulded their thought processes.
Salam Alaridi has been involved in initiatives aimed at fostering stability, inclusion and the promotion of peaceful coexistence in conflict zones, particularly in Syria. Rehab Mouna Chaker works as a writer and translator from Dutch to Arabic. This week, they are both at Faberllull, reflecting on peace alongside other women from Syria, Palestine and Lebanon, as part of the “Mediterranean women weaving resilience. The value of peace” residency, organised in collaboration with the International Catalan Institute for Peace.
