International symposium on war and theater in Barcelona

The 2nd International Symposium on Contemporary Theatre in Latin America and Europe, organized by the International Network of Latin American and European Theatre Researchers (RIITLE), was held today at Casa América in Barcelona, with the title "War and theatre in the 21st century”. This meeting focuses its attention on dramaturgies and shows of the 21st century that have dealt with the theme of war. As already happened in the first edition, different researchers from various scenic realities reflect on how contemporary theater has reacted to the most recent war conflicts and what impact it has had on society.

In the first block of the morning, the conferences of Luis Emilio Abraham (Argentina), Francesc Foguet (Catalonia), Sandra Ortega (Colombia) and Fabienne Crastes (Corsica) took place; after a break, Diego Santos (Spain), Antonia Amo (France), Irene Salza (Italy) and Ernesto Barraza (Peru) spoke. In the afternoon session, Daniela Pauletti (Uruguay) and other speakers from Brazil, Cuba and Mexico took part in a telematic connection.

The day concluded with a debate between the attendees and dramatized readings.
