Theater workshop based on research at the Higher School of Dramatic Art (ESAD)

Residents Tetsuro Shigematsu, Christina Cook, and George Belliveau at the School of Dramatic Art (ESAD) teaching a performative workshop "Inquiry-Based Theater: Embodied Stories for Knowledge Sharing."

This is a workshop that explores inquiry-based theater by showing the methodology in action to highlight its characteristics, and then invites attendees to collectively engage in a process around this methodology to better understand its potential and parameters.

As a qualitative, arts-based methodology, it invites people engaged in research, the arts, education or social intervention to collectively create a theater that translates the story of a research phenomenon in an embodied and visceral way . This approach makes use of strategies based on applied theater and drama and, at its fundamental core, is based on two commitments: a) Honoring and ethically exploring the research context; and b) Participate and commit to the theater.
