Writing from a place of vulnerability and curiosity by Monica Lorenzo
In collaboration with FaberLlull & Claude Escola d’Idiomes I gave a talk about my writing. I named it Writing from a place of vulnerability and curiosity. I talked about how I use the anthropological approach to investigate and reflect upon my outer and inner world and both red from my previous book and the text I’m working on now. I talked about how writing allows me to go through grief and sorrow but also the sensation of relief and freedom that it brings. In this I underlined that there is a fine - but important - line between being personal and authentic. By giving some of me through writing I hope to brake with stigma. What I experience is not so special – we all suffer – it’s part of being human. I felt very connected with the audience and when I heard that some had been crying while I was reading from my text, I felt grateful, because I hope it means that they felt connected with my experience, and this feeling connected and bound to each other is really – I think - such a beauty of life.
