Teaching the mirror as a prop: workshop at the School of Arts (in Olot), by Julia Forrest

My day spent at the art school:

presentation on my own work,

a Q&A with students,

a walk to a nearby volcano,

a quick intro photoshoot,

working with the students one on one as they do their own work with mirrors,

a critique back at the school.

Overall, it was wonderful to work with such dedicated art students. The students were very attentive and responsive to my presentation. They asked interesting questions and the instructors translated when necessary. I felt very at home at the school and thank the instructors for taking their time to make me feel welcome. The students had an opportunity to use my mirrors in the natural landscape and worked in groups to find reflections. I went around to each group to see how they were doing and if they needed any more assistance. Back in the classroom I took a look at the work that everyone did and was surprised at how impressive the shots were in such a short amount of time. They did such an excellent job! We created a mock exhibition of the best pieces and displayed them large on the projector screen for all to see.
