I have told students of the IES La Garrotxa about the motivation of the new degree in Science, Technology and Humanities. While the educational system strives to distinguish the sciences from the humanities and asks students to choose between them, many important questions and research subjects do not admit such separation. Students who find it meaningless to choose, now have the option to take a degree that looks at science and technology with the critical tools of the humanities. The new degree does not simply juxtapose different forms knowledge, it rather builds on areas of common concern requiring a concerted effort between science, technology and the humanities.
