Talk: “De lluny i de prop. Far and near”
Matthew Tree explained some of his feelings when he moved to Catalonia. He contrasted his experience with Ganíeva Alissa’s experience. She contributed different perspectives about what it means to go from Dagestan to Russia and vice versa. Globalization, stays, living in a place without speaking its language were some of the discussed topics. Also the frictions between cultures, from the point of view of an English man who lives the complicated relations between Catalonia and Spain and a from the view of a Russian woman who must return to Dagestan. It was a nuanced conversation that ended with qüestions, too, from different countries.
