Feminism and New Media
Ayu Saraswati presented her paper to advanced students at Escola Oficial d’Idiomes in Olot, Catalonia. Her lecture focuses on feminism and new media. Specifically, she explores how specific strategies that feminist activists employ in online spaces may both be justifiable and problematic. She provides specific examples from social media platform such as Instagram and offers several suggestions of the kinds of online activist practices that may be more productive. The students asked very important questions about sexual harassment in online spaces and were very engaged throughout the presentation.
