In considering what to share with around 70 final year students, I was reminded of how challenging the last year of schooling can be in terms of making decisions about what happens next.  My talk focused on what I wanted to do when I grow up and the life choices that I have made. My key point was that it is ok to not know your life’s direction at 17 but to be brave in challenging yourself and to maintain an open perspective about what might be possible. The students asked extremely impressive questions, like was I ever lonely when travelling by myself and did I make I make my choices by myself or with guidance. This caused me to think more deeply about what it is to experience the challenges and the joys of life. Talking with these students was an energising experience and I really valued being able to spend this time with an amazing group of young people.
