Barcelona-based illustrator Anna Font conducted a children’s workshop focused on character creation. Using her own illustrated book, Un bon amic (A Good Friend), as a springboard, workshop participants explored various characters, ultimately creating a collection of distinctive and original friends.

The children learned about where characters hide before appearing on scene—whether they are expected to appear upright or upside down, clothed or unclothed. Tools such as pencils, scissors, markers, crayons and cardboards supported the young participants in building their characters.

Anna Font is an illustrator and author of children’s books born in Barcelona. She relishes telling stories through her artwork, a passion reflected in her award-winning illustrated books.

Until 11 October, she is participating at the Faberllull Residency in Olot, a residency for Catalan illustrators aimed at fostering collaborations with international publishers. Font is currently illustrating the book Vida y obra de algunas nubes (Life and Work of Some Clouds), published by the Argentine publisher Limonero, written by Hernán Rosino.
