Screenwriter, consultant and teacher Katrin Merkel (Germany) has offered a workshop to screenwriters in residence at Faberllull. She led the session 'Plotting with Beats' on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Combining theory and practice, Merkel asked the attendees to keep pauses in mind when writing scripts for television series. The moments of rest, i.e., of letting the action breathe, are as important as the parts where the characters deliver their lines.

Katrin Merkel has worked extensively as a script consultant and development producer for various German series productions. She also directs the renowned European postgraduate programme Serial Eyes at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin and teaches series writing and screenwriting techniques at various national and international institutions.
