Creative retreat for illustrators to cooperate with International publishers - 2024

October 2024

For the second year in a row, Faberllull is hosting a paid creative residency for five illustrators from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands to work on projects proposed by five international publishing houses. This residency aims to help Catalan and Balearic authors get published abroad, as well as providing incentives for international publishers to commission local professionals.

This year’s participating publishers were Limonero from Argentina, 400 coups from Canada, Père Fouettard and Nathan from France, Zalozba Hart from Slovenia, Camelozampa from Italy and Little Island from Ireland. Based on their projects, nearly 50 candidates answered the open call to submit work proposals. After the assessment period, five of these publishers chose five illustrators to start a professional collaboration that will end with the residency at Faberllull.

For ten days in October, the five people selected will work on developing their projects for Limonero, 400 coups, Père Fouettard, Zalozba Hart and Camelozampa, who will in turn monitor the creative process through virtual meetings. At the end of their stay, based on the results, the illustrators and publishers will decide whether to sign a deal to publish the work.
