ANNA FONT GARCIA
Illustrator
Barcelona

Bio

Anna Font is an illustrator and author of children’s books born in Barcelona. Since she was little, she has always explained things in drawings. Perhaps because she was surrounded by pencils, crayons, books and other treasures that helped her imagination soar.

She started off painting and drawing with Agustí Roca and Núria Balcells. She later studied at the University School of Design and Art (EINA) and Escola de la Dona in Barcelona.

Telling stories through her illustrations is what she likes best, and she has published several picture books, some of which have won awards like the XVI International Compostela Prize for Picture Books and the 2020 Serra d’Or Critics’ Awards for children’s literature.

She is both an illustrator and an educator, teaching drawing courses and workshops at schools and art centres, and now in her own workshop.

Project

As she has been chosen for the art residency programme to work with foreign publishers, organised by Institut Ramon Llull, she will work on her illustrations for the book Vida y obra de algunas nubes. This project is for the Limonero publishing house with text by Argentinian writer, sociologist and educator Hernán Rosino. It is a book of short stories about clouds, blending genres such as legends, crime, adventure and humour. During the residency, she will be in contact with the publishing team to follow up on and develop the piece.
