James Lowry in Andorra National Archive,
James Lowry, one of the Faberllull residents in Andorra for 2023, has carried out the first activity connected to his stay. Lowry has met with Lídia Arbués, head of the Andorra National Archive, in order to begin the research which he intends to develop in Andorra. Dr Lowry investigates the Andorran claim against France for the return of some of its archives, particularly those of the Department of the Pyrenees Orientals and the French Vegueria of Andorra.
The Andorra National Archive’s mission is to gather, preserve and disseminate the relevant documents linked to Andorra and the country’s history. For this precise reason, the Archive is the perfect place for Dr Lowry to start his research on the claim mentioned above on the documents from Andorra taken to France; this dispute began in the early 1880s and lasted until the early 1990s.
In this meeting Celia Realp, specialist also working at the Andorra National Archive.
