"Creative retreat for illustrators to cooperate with International publishers" residence, organized by the Ramon Llull Institute, begins in Faberllull Olot.

At the proposal of the IRL, international publishers interested in commissioning illustrators each present a publishing project. The IRL organizes a call for illustrators resident in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands to submit their candidacies to participate in the residency. Then, the candidates who meet the requirements must send work proposals based on the editorial projects. Based on these proposals, each publishing house will choose an illustrator to start a professional collaboration that will have its core during the face-to-face residency in Faberllull - Olot.

The residency will allow online interaction between the publisher and the illustrator to guarantee follow-up and productive collaboration between both parties. In addition, the stay will be enriched with a collective project presentation session and a workshop for young readers at the Olot public library.

The publishers that have taken part in the initiative are:

· Chouette, from Canada

· Charlesbridge, from the United States

· Helium, from France

· Mondadori, from Italy

· TREFL, from Poland

· Bulutsu, from Turkey

After receiving the illustrators' proposals based on their respective projects, two publishing houses (Mondadori and TREFL) did not choose any; while the rest of the participating publishers have decided to start a professional collaboration with:

· Silvia Romeral, selected by Charlesbridge

· Blanca Caminal, selected by Chouette

· Quim Torres, selected by Hélium

· Christian Inaraja, selected by Bulutsu

Therefore, the illustrators who stay at the Creative Residence for illustrators in Faberllull-Olot between September 25 and October 6, 2023 will are those mentioned above.
