During my stay, I gave a public presentation of my book Técnica y tecnología. Cómo conversar con un tecnolófilo (‘Technique and technology. How to talk to a technophile’. Taugenit, 2021). Although the turnout wasn’t spectacular, the space provided by the La Tranca bookshop did in fact turn into a highly fruitful setting for discussion and exchange. In keeping with the intentions of the book when it was planned, this meeting became the perfect excuse to dismantle many preconceived ideas about philosophy and, above all, to carry out an open and sincere discussion on all the technological issues facing industrial societies such as ours in the midst of an eco-social crisis. We thereby took a look at energy, medical and transport issues. All of this against the backdrop of understanding that the problem of our societies is not so much technological, but social: it is capitalism that is responsible for the current socio-ecological destructiveness, and it is only by fighting it that it can be mitigated.
