The activity that I decided to do was a poetry reading at an Art Cafe of Olot’s city centre.
It was Saturday evening, it was raining cats and dogs. First weekend with bars open. COVID19 environment: masks and security distance. But the poetry found its way.
I introduced myself to an audience of 9-11 people. I was reading my poems for about 40 minutes, combining my mother tongue, Spanish, with poems translated into Catalan and Bask, languages that I also speak. The poems that I decided to read in Catalan were new, unpublished, and they were well received. One of the was translated thanks to the helpful Gavina, from the Faber office. I dared to translate the other one. The atmosphere was intimate, dark and cozy. Audience very silent and concentrated. It was very magic. At the end, all of them approached me to congratulate me in some way. I ended up chatting with most of them, as they were impressed about my poetry, I was very surprised with their positive opinions and confidence. I’d like to come back another occasion.
