Conversation between Oscar Aranda and Antonio Sandoval at Museu Darder
During around one hour, we had a very interesting chat about our books (El lenguaje secreto de la naturaleza and Para qué sirven las aves) and our perspectives about nature, ecology and animal behavior. We remarked how important is to have access to natural environments during our first years of life, when we are more receptive and willing to learn, but also about the fact that every day is more difficult for some families to find a natural place to disconnect with their family. I remarked the important influence of adults to guide and improve the natural experience, sending the right message. In the mid time, we talked about crows, sea turtles, octopuses, flies, orcas and other animals that teach us a lot about ourselves as “animal humans”. We as adults need to reconnect to our sensitive side. We need to take our time to see, to listen, to hear, to feel and enjoy. Thus, we can remember that we are animals too, and we as humans are made of experiences with nature.
