With this title, Roser Porta and I discussed the works and lives of these three authors. Rather than giving formal papers, we presented our findings in an interview format: Roser asked me a series of questions about the three writers, and I responded with opinions and quotations from their work. In all three cases, I believe endurance was an important factor: they all suffered great obstacles to their success. Albert never married and was in charge of the family holdings from the age of 20, when her father died; Rodoreda suffered war and exile under harsh conditions; Marçal was a single mother and declared lesbian, but they all persevered and wrote extensively and successfully. The National Library was filled, and the public was lively and interested. Many people remarked that they enjoyed and learned from the event.
