Group work sessions for screenwriting residents
Residents in the Academy of Catalan Cinema Residency are at Faberllull these days and have already started their group work sessions with mentors Ana Sanz-Magallón and Almudena Monzú. Yesterday, they divided into two groups. Half of the residents took part in the workshop called “Interrogant els personatges” (Interrogating the characters), asking key questions about the characters in each story and how they relate to the story itself. Meanwhile, the other half did the “Tell me” workshop, telling each other the story for the project they’re working on.
This morning, they came together again for a workshop called “Caminant per cases” (Around the house). This activity looks into the spaces where each character from the residents’ screenplays spends or has spent time. These places don’t have to be in the film but it is important to know about them because they shape the characters and their idiosyncrasies.
Their training will continue tomorrow, Saturday, with a group session in which the two mentors will help the screenwriters get further into their stories through games. This first stay at Faberllull will end on Sunday morning with a group debrief on the experience. The residents will return to Faberllull in February to continue the screenwriting residency.
