The speech at the Escola d’Art d’Olot was about the project on progress a Faber residence itself. With the temporary title “The Wold we made”, this project is a journey through the world of visual forms of representation that aims to proposes a new way of communicating about images. Whether pictures from the past, or current internet and social media driven visual communications. Elemental imagery, whether it be banal or high culture. Those can be explained through communication theories, form, analyzing multiplicity of meaning and rhetorical weight, from a cultural and historic perspectives, etc. But all these didactic explanations fail to consider the instinctive “animal” visual experience. In this context it’s not really applicable to know if a “sign” or a moving or static image is an icon or symbol or if it is a metaphor and so. What we are trying to get this days in Faber residence is to give a narrative way and the proper language to explain all this data, probably in the for of a TV documentary.
