SONIA ESTELA GUERRA
From Monday, 21 October 2024 to Monday, 28 October 2024
Bio
Sonia Estela Guerra (Terrassa, 1970), although her true love was always drawing, worked in administration and tourism on the Costa Brava, Ibiza and Costa Rica until she decided to make a radical change and follow her heart, studying illustration at Escola de la Dona in Barcelona.
With her classmates, she is a member of Col·lectiu Rosa Sardina, which experiments with collage and has published the children’s picture books Lota, la catxalota (Takatuka, 2019), ON-OFF (Takatuka, 2022) and Superheroïnes de l’esport (Ara Llibres, 2023).
When she isn’t giving collage workshops for children with her colleagues, she likes to make fanzines about her travels or ironic takes on everyday experiences.
Project
At Faberllull she will be working on her first solo project, El Bosc, a graphic novel for adults that looks at the symbolism of the forest as a circle of life and growth. The forest is a common thread in many children’s stories, portrayed as a dangerous place full of mystery and fantastical creatures, but also a place where you can get lost and find yourself, something you have to face before moving into the light.
