Polish-Belgium based, Mar Sala Romagosa graduated from Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu (Barcelona) and did her masters in classic and contemporary music in Ghent and in Antwerpen (Belgium). Mar Sala collaborated with and premiered creations from Gorlinsky, Guiraud, Jacobs, Pàmies, Van Parys, Dossena, among others. Mar Sala also worked together with Emanuel Gollob and his disarming project with the goal of making alternative relations bodily experienceable.

In 2023 under the artistic name of zoutezee she premiered "d.e.a.f. a third ear to a silenced body". A performative installation including video, electronics, and piccolo in its core.

Project

d.e.a.f. initially started as a solo project where she combines poetry, visual arts and sounds to give the silenced body a voice. The concept grew out of a state of constricted consciousness, an empty vessel in which the (h)earing awareness is re-awaken. Therefore, d.e.a.f. aims for reactivating, retuning, rehearing, rebreathing, rethinking and re-experiencing the surrounding sonic stimulus. Starting from a non-essentialist perspective in which the thought of sound-in-itself is literally unthinkable in order to make ones own mental picture more complete. d.e.a.f. is an ongoing research-installation premiered in January 2023. In this specific version at Faberllull, Mar Sala will explore one step further the conscious manipulation.
