Project
During my stay I will combine violin study with writing and composition. In my day-to-day life, partly due to being a student and partly due to the frenetic activity of the city, creation is not having a sufficiently important space and this residence means for me a few days to stop, breathe and immerse myself in the artistic projects that I have had in my hands for some time: a collection of stories for adults and the composition of small chamber pieces.
WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN CREATORS.
FaberLlull’s residency in Olot has been an open door in a new, unknown world, full of space, peace and silence to create. The perfect environment for an artist to make his/her imagination fly and to connect with other artists from all around the world and their work.
I've finished a story in which I had been working a long time ago, started some of the new chamber music pieces that I had in mind, wrote some poems about the place and the people in the residency, practiced the violin, read a lot of new literary discoveries and listened to new inspiring music. And in the middle I even managed to make a concert-talk about the connections between the world of music and our day-to-day life, called “Music Stories”. I've also had the opportunity to make priceless human and artistic connections with the residents, definitely one of the best things about the project. I was every night at dinner time coming down with my notebook, ready to write recommendations, ideas, stories, or just amazing pieces of their lives.
As a musician and writer, it has been a huge pleasure being able to share these days, not only with the writers, translators, historians, visual artists… but also with the staff of the local music school “Harmonia” and, of course, with the awesome crew of Faberllull. The location, the common areas, the food, the organization, all really well thought and planned. And most important of all, with plenty of freedom for us to create.
What happens in these creation spaces is unique, and the amount of art that emerges from them is invaluable, as it is the human and artistic connection that you create with the residents. It is absolutely necessary in this crazy society in which we live that these spaces exist, coexist and spread all around. You cannot really imagine what a creator can learn from this exchange of ideas. It can change lives. It has definitely changed mine.
