Bio

Gisela Carrasco Miró has a PhD in Gender and Feminist Studies at the Netherlands Research School of Gender Studies. Gisela’s thesis. Decolonising knowledges on Politics of Development, Economics and Feminism is transdisciplinary focusing on decolonsing projects, postcolonial theory and politics, art and ecology. Her research is informed by her personal history, living in in Mexico, Guatemala, Mozambique and different countries in Europe with several international organizations and people’s movements. Her work has been published in peer-review journals such as Tijdschrift voor Genderstudies and Insurgencies from the South and Human Rights and books such as the Mujeres, economías locales, territorios, saberes y poderes. She has also worked as an international researcher for the United Nations African Human Development Report 2016. Her work has been selected in art residencies such as the Southern Summer School at the art centre BAK, and Cámara Interactiva/Visual Storytelling Programme at the Centre of Humanities Utrecht University.

Project

During my stay at Faber Residency, I will work on the article “Science, emancipation and the variety of forms of knowledge: a decolonial feminist proposal of knowledges” to critically examine the hegemonic scientific discourse and open the debate to include non-western, non-capitalist, non-scientific knowledges, cosmovisions and epistemologies, currently ignored by the scientific discourse, in order to widen the horizon of possibilities for a more just, democratic and sustainable futures. In particular, at Faber Residency I intend to explore the link between science and feminism from a non-modernist and decolonial approach. I am also looking forward to experimentation, learning and discussions with all the Faber residents.
