Nine PhD candidates from six European and non-EU countries will come together for a week at Faberllull to share experiences, knowhow, methodological approaches and resources among researchers working in the field of Catalan studies and to create a network of relationships that contributes to the international development of the discipline and enriches the experience of up-and-coming researchers.

They will be given quality time to carry out their reflective and writing tasks or to exchange often complementary and interdisciplinary knowledge and viewpoints with other residents and with university faculty from the Xarxa Vives network specialising in their research fields.

The residency combines a period of communal work, individual work and engagement with the surroundings. In addition to the project presentation sessions between residents and senior university staff around the themes of ‘History and Cultural History’, ‘Language Variation’ and ‘Literature, Society and Identity’, there will also be an exchange of experiences and best practices with people who have pursued a professional research career, and a meeting with the Association of Young Researchers in Catalan Language and Literature (AJILLC) to create a network of contacts among researchers both within and outside the Catalan language area.

This meeting is part of the Institut Ramon Llull's mission to promote research in the university industry outside the Catalan-speaking world in order to strengthen international Catalan studies and contribute to the specialisation of students and academic staff. With this residency, the Institut strengthens its research-promotion activities after an annual public call for doctoral scholarships was launched in 2025 to support young international researchers interested in Catalan studies.
