JAVIERA GAZITUA CHARNES
From Monday, 9 March 2026 to Sunday, 15 March 2026
Bio
Javiera Gazitúa Charnes is a director, playwright and actress whose career has included research into the visual theatre and hybrid languages. Born in Italy and established in Spain and Chile, she combines her background in acting with a master's degree in dance and movement therapy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
She has partnered in international projects as a performer and creator, with works such as Azul, Contemplo and Míope. Her work explores the relationship between body, landscape and emotion, leveraging scenic and installation images to produce immersive and reflective experiences. She is currently developing an artistic research project on volcanoes and human desire, integrating concepts such as latency, tension and territory from an ecofeminist perspective. Her work has been recognised and presented in several countries.
Project
During the residency at Faberllull, she will work on her project Jo vull mirar pel cràter d’un volcà quan estigui a punt d’estallar, and delve deeper into the development of theatre and its connection with the volcanic land of La Garrotxa. She is keen to explore how the landscape and its characteristics — latency and tension — will influence narrative and scenic construction, establishing a dialogue between space, body and image.
