GLÀFIRA SMITH
From Tuesday, 30 September 2025 to Friday, 10 October 2025
Bio
Glafira Smith is an artist and visual storyteller with a degree in film from Edinburgh and a background in audiovisual work and illustration. With an organic and expressive style, she has published short stories and comics for Diari Ara, Norma Editorial and Editorial Finestres. She received an honourable mention at the Ara de Còmic Awards in 2021 for Camuflatge (Camouflage) and, in 2022, she won the same award for Els homes són llops (Men are Wolves), a work about gender violence that was also shortlisted for the Junceda Awards.
Her first graphic novel, Trufa (Pagès Editors, Doble Tinta collection, November 2024), reconstructs the life of her father, José Luis, through the eyes of his Labrador dog, Trufa. Using the three primary colours for the dog's point of view and black and white for that of the human, the work is a tender tribute to the asymmetrical love between owner and dog, to grief and family memory. Trufa has been published in Spanish (Editorial Milenio), and the Korean version will be published in October 2025.
Project
At Faberllull, Glafira Smith will work with Mixtvision on the creation of an educational book about sunglasses. The project aims to introduce children to science, history and the curiosities surrounding an everyday object: the glasses we put on when we go outside. A very well-researched proposal, presented in an accessible way and with a touch of humour
