Bio
Born in Bayonne (France) in 1959. After studying History, she worked for the Spanish post office until recently. Writer, poet, columnist and author of lyrics for local singers, she has covered all literary activity.
Her first article appeared in 1974 in the columns of the weekly magazine Herria. In 2002 she won the Euskadi Literature Prize for the novel 100% Basque, which was translated into French in 2004 and into Spanish in 2012. Her novels have had an impact on the Basque literary world, especially with her character Amaia Ezpeldoi, a Souletine lesbian detective.
In 1981 she was part of the group that founded the magazine Maiatz. She worked as a translator between Basque and French for the magazine. She also practices self-translation.
Her latest poem, Uhartearen mugetan / Au confins de l’île, is bilingual and was published by Maiatz editions. In Praise of Rain (2022), published by Zortziko, is a poetic essay penned in French. She has just published a transatlantic adventure novel with Cairn: Martin, Basque in the New World (2024). Itzalen Tektonika/La tectònica de les ombres (2024) is her latest collection of poems in Basque, published by Susa de Zarautz.
