Bio
Cèlia Nadal Pasqual is a tenured professor of Catalan literature, language and translation at the University for Foreigners of Siena. She is director of the CAT Centre for Catalan Studies in Siena and has been commissioned to spearhead the Italian Association of Catalan Studies (AISC) for the 2023-25 period. Since 2025, she has led the book collection "Quaderni CAT" and the educational project "alaula.it".
Among other research projects, Cèlia has worked on "Discussing Illness Through Narrative Medicine" (PNRR 2022-25), "Gender, Violence and Representation in the Women's Press on the Iberian Peninsula (1848-1918)" (UB 2021-24), "Catalan Literature and Italian Literature: "Meetings, Translations, Exchanges" (UniStraSi 2015-2023) and "All Góngora" (UPF 2010-14). Cèlia obtained a PhD in humanities from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) with the thesis "White Darkness: "Poetic Obscurity in Ausiàs March, Luis de Góngora and Eugenio Montale" (2014), a master's in comparative studies in literature, art and thought and an undergraduate degree in humanities (UPF, 2009 and 2005).
She has had research stays at the University of Barcelona (2025), the University of Cordoba (2010), the University for Foreigners of Siena (2013) and the University of Montreal (2014-2015). She has published monographs on Vicent Andrés Estellés (Guida, 2024/5), Ausiàs March (Einaudi, 2020) and Luis de Góngora in contact with European literature (Pacini, 2020). Her interests include comparative literature, Iberian studies, gender studies, translation and Catalan and Italian literature.
