NEVA MICHEVA
From Monday, 17 November 2025 to Monday, 24 November 2025
Bio
Neva Micheva translates prose and drama from Italian, Spanish, Catalan (and sometimes Russian or English) into Bulgarian. She has MA in Italian Philology (Sofia University St. Clement of Ohrid), and MA in Journalism from El Mundo daily, Madrid. Among the authors whose works she has translated into her language are Italo Calvino, Dino Buzzati, Primo Levi, Roberto Bolaño, Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, Manuel Puig, Manuel de Pedrolo, César Aira, Shaun Tan, Juan Mayorga, Jordi Galceran, Ivan Vyrypaev and others.
Neva writes for the press: for the independent media Toest.bg she maintains an 'Agony Aunt' column, and for Filmsociety.bg she mostly covers film festivals (San Sebastián every year since 2002, but occasionally also Cannes, Karlovy Vary, Tallinn, Sitges and others).
Project
In the past two decades Neva Micheva has been a spontaneous free lance drama scout: she has selected, translated and promoted into Bulgarian more than 30 plays by Catalan and Spanish speaking theatre authors many of which have resulted in stagings all around the country (more than 40, included 2 in the National Radio). In November 2025 at Faberllull Olot she will be reading and filtering new texts, and translating a play by a Catalan author.
