Bio

Miguel Ángel Blanca (1982), director and screenwriter, specialises in tragicomedy, dual lives and everyday darkness. He premièred the series Autodefensa (2022) on Filmin, co-written with Berta Prieto and Belén Barenys. His latest feature film, Magaluf Ghost Town (2021), is a crossroads between horror and local customs in one of Mallorca’s most touristy towns. It reflects on declining tourist areas and their representation in the collective imagination.

His previous projects include the feature film I Want the Eternal (2017) and the short film Corre Brilla Luz Luz (2018), both fables about adolescent nihilism and the fantasy of the end of the world. These are followed by La Extranjera (2015), a hybrid documentary-science fiction film about tourist invasions in Barcelona, and Un lloc on caure mort (2014), a musical documentary on balancing family, the middle class and punk music.
