Project
While at Faberllull, Belén Pasqualini will finish writing her screenplay based on the life of her grandmother Christiane Dosne Pasqualini, a leukaemia researcher who was born in 1920 and lived to be 102. It is a 100% independently produced script that she is currently working on with two Argentinian colleagues. The film will tell the story of Christiane’s life, also honouring hundreds of women in science who haven’t got the recognition they deserve. A biopic in the style of the film about Marie Curie, which will be a reference for the project.
My experience at Faberllull - Olot was very fruitful. I tried to come without expectations, which is hard these days, and that helped make me more open to a positive experience.
I arrived in the town and, on my way from the bus station to the hotel, I experienced the camaraderie of the people of Olot. Hotel Riu Fluvià was even more beautiful than in the pictures and seemed to be floating in a dream when I arrived, like an oasis. As the minutes passed, the other residents that week started to emerge. It was lovely to cross paths with such diverse, sweet, enthusiastic, creative people from different cultures and with different views of life.
Pepa and Andreu, the hosts, welcomed me Tuesday morning and were always there to help me with anything I needed, both strictly academic and extra-curricular. These two really love what they do!
The vibe at Faberllull was full of concentration, creativity, inspiration, hard work, sharing, walks and deep conversations, plus some laughs and great food that paired so well with our post-meal chats, surrounded by the beautiful natural landscapes of La Garrotxa.
We tried to share all our breakfasts and dinners, and then each of us worked on our own. I think this created a great combination of group and personal dynamics. We also tried to be present to take in a bit of the art each of our colleagues was working on to broaden the experience, taking with us the gift of new-found friendships that must now be watered in the hope they will blossom.
I am very thankful to Faberllull for this GREAT opportunity and hope everything the eight of us worked on during this residency continues to grow and sees the light, because our love for what we do and our eagerness have filled the walls of Hotel Riu Fluvià and of La Garrotxa in Olot during our stay. Thank you again for this opportunity, for the generosity, for the whole experience... until we meet again.
