ELENA MARTÍ I SEGARRA
From Monday, 10 June 2024 to Friday, 14 June 2024
Bio
Elena Martí i Segarra (Barcelona, 1973) is graduated in English philology. Later on, she did a PhD course in colonial literature, as well as German and Swedish studies.
In 2008 she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Literary Translation (Pompeu Fabra University). She has been translating professionally since 2001, and has worked for several publishers and other entities (foundations, museums and art galleries). She has rendered novels and essays, and above all, many books for children and young adults into Catalan and Spanish. In addition to contemporary authors, she has also translated classics such as Hjalmar Söderberg and Tove Jansson.
The desire to understand other languages —other worlds— and to act as a bridge between those cultures and her own, led her to focus her professional life on the translation of works written in English, German and Swedish.
Project
She will assist in different work sessions on specific texts in the two directions from Catalan to Swedish and Danish and vice versa. She will also assist in informative talks on the literary landscape from the classics to the current narrative.
