Bio
Sara Høyrup works from Catalan into Danish and Spanish. She has translated Eva Baltasar’s Permafrost and Boulder to critical acclaim in Denmark, and most recently she has published a translation of a book on Catalonia on her own publishing house, Refusenik.dk. She has also translated journalism from Catalan and interpreted an FC Barcelona press meeting.
She studied literature at Universitat de Barcelona under professor Jordi Gracia (now opinion sub-editor at El País) and political journalism at Universitat de Pompeu Fabra, as well as Spanish and English philology at Copenhagen University. She also has a postgraduate degree in conference interpreting from Copenhagen Business School.
Sara runs her own translation agency: Interpreters.dk. She currently spends most of her work weeks as a simultaneous interpreter at the European Parliament. 2017–21 she was Catalonia correspondent for Magasinet Europa.
She formerly worked at Catalan courts and police stations as an interpreter, and as a publisher’s reader for a large number of Catalan publishing houses. She organizes study visits from Denmark to Catalonia for highschools, politicians and associations. She gives talks on Catalonia in Denmark.
Project
She will assist in different work sessions on specific texts in the two directions from Catalan to Swedish and Danish and vice versa. She will also assist in informative talks on the literary landscape from the classics to the current narrative.
