TAMARA NELSON-FROMM
From Tuesday, 7 May 2024 to Tuesday, 14 May 2024

Bio
Tamara is a PhD candidate in Computer Science Education studying how and why students in arts and humanities disciplines want to learn programming. In the courses she studies, students explore multimedia programming with Snap!: making image filters, chatbots, and video games. They also learn about critical computing by working with databases, text manipulation, and neural nets. Prior to pursuing a PhD at the University of Michigan, she completed a bachelors in Computer Science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Tamara is passionate about making programming available to all who might benefit from computation: especially artists, teachers, and social scientists. Beyond computing, Tamara is a quilter, musician, and synchronized swimmer.
Project
A passionate group of teachers, designers and creators of educational tools from around the world will meet at Faberllull Olot to promote these creative learnings in educational programming and robotics. Many of them already share projects during the year, from distant locations, enjoying the technologies that allow to work remotely and asynchronously, but the personal and intensive meeting that Faberllull Olot offers them is an invaluable gift.
