Bio
Concha Cardeñoso Sáenz de Miera was born in León (Spain), 1956. Her first translations (1990 onwards) were stories for children and up, among them, The Annotated Wizard of Oz, by Michel Patrick Hearn. She’s also translated all kinds of fiction, essay, journalism, popular science, etc., by authors like Robertson Davies, Robert Macfarlane, Ian Morris, James Salter, Maggie O’Farrell, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, L. M. Alcott, amongst others. Around 2010 she began to translate from Catalan the works of Jaume Cabré and later, of authors such as Irene Solà, Gemma Ruiz Palà, Raül Garrigassait and Sílvia Soler, among others.
Other works: selection, presentation and adaptation of classic tales (Grimm, Andersen, Parrault) and stories from the oral tradition of Castile and León (Cuentos de Maricastaña).
In 2018 she was awarded the Esther Benítez prize in translation for My Cousin Rachel, by Daphne du Maurier.
Project
She will participate in a meeting of translators who adapt Irene Solà's novel to several different languages.
