ROGER ROMAGOSA CARRASQUER
From Wednesday, 6 March 2024 to Wednesday, 20 March 2024
Bio
Roger Romagosa works on the hierarchy of the landscape. It focuses on those that, urbanistically, are given a lower rank: wastelands and natural spaces without administrative protection, abandoned factories, garden shacks, degraded urban areas, uncatalogued elements, heritage that is often left to deteriorate. He explores these spaces, walks there, lives there, and collects urban and industrial remains from the ground. He claims rejected, obsolete, aged materials, materials that are in disuse, abandoned, that no one wants. He observes them and gives them a new utility. It is then that he works with the poetics of the object found and resigned by taking it out of context. With the sculptural technique of assemblage, he creates landscapes and creatures from scrap metal, tiles and other elements. With these works, he symbolizes the scenes of the urban margins, the sensations experienced there and the value these spaces have.
Project
He will spend the first days at Faberllull exploring everything that seems interesting to him in terms of archeology, geology, landscape or historical memory. He will photograph and record these places doing the exercise of removing from his head any prejudice of everyday life, and he will go through them as if he came from a different area from everything that surrounds him now, as if what he step on is a virgin space, never explored. During these routes he will collect objects from the ground that, during the rest of the days, will be used to represent the scenarios visited.
