IRIS LLOP MANGAS
From Wednesday, 15 May 2024 to Sunday, 19 May 2024
Bio
Iris Llop is a professor and literary critic. She holds a PhD in Literary Studies and Comparative Literature from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), where she is currently an Assistant Professor of Literary Studies. Her research interests include the study of the concept of ‘novelistic meditation’ (Milan Kundera), the novel as a thinking device, and the study of poetological texts by novelists in different forms (diaries, essays, letters). Alongside her academic work, she is a literary critic: she organizes and teaches courses, conferences, presentations and reading clubs for both public and private organizations. She works as a professional reader and she writes for magazines such as La Lectora, La Nadala and Caràcters. Recently, she participated in the edition of Virginia Woolf's essays translated by Dolors Udina in Quid Pro Quo (Les paraules viuen a l’esperit, 2023).
Project
She will be responsible for the preparation and coordination of the work sessions of the translators of Irene Solà’s novel Et vaig donar ulls i vas mirar les tenebres. These sessions aim to open a conversation between the author and the translators of her work. On the one hand, we want the translators to familiarize themselves with the aesthetic and literary background of Sola’s project. On the other hand, we hope that the professionals will be able to share the translation strategies of different linguistic contexts, as well as their conceptions of translation theory.
