Bio
Krisztina Nemes is a literary translator from English, French, Spanish and Catalan into Hungarian. Currently a full time free-lancer, previously Associate Professor of Translation Studies at the University of Pannonia. Has her PhD in History from the University of Szeged, Hungary with the thesis: History and Memory of the myth of Mequinensa. The history narrated by Jesús Moncada in Camí de sirga (1870-1970). (Jesús Moncada Research Award in 202, it will be published soon by Gara d'Edizions Història i Memòria al mite de Mequinensa). She translates contemporary novels, short stories, poetry and books specialized in theology or history. From Catalan she translated works by Jesús Moncada, Imma Monsó, Armand Puig i Tàrrec, Irene Solà, an essay by Joan Francesc Mira, several short stories by Pere Calders, Maria Antònia Oliver, Mercè Ibarz, Borja Bagunyà, Ramon Guillem, Albert Sánchez Piñol and Ramon Solsona, fragments of Najat El Hachmi and poetry by Carles Dachs, Jaume Coll, Pau Sif, Irene Solà.
Krisztina is a member of the Hungarian Association of Literary Translators, MEGY and the International Association of Catalan Language and Literature, AILLC. She actively participates in the translation workshop from Hungarian to Catalan that takes place every year at La Casa del Traductor in Balatonfüred, Hungary and is co-editor of the Biblioteca Catalana series of Prae publishing house which prepares an anthology of contemporary Catalan poetry in the year 2024. She regularly publishes essays related to Catalonia and Catalan literature or translation in scientific and literary magazines.
Project
She will participate in a meeting of translators who adapt Irene Solà's novel to several different languages.
